What is a naturopathic doctor?

Naturopathic physicians combine the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. Steeped in traditional healing methods, principles and practices, naturopathic medicine focuses on holistic, proactive prevention and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. By using protocols that minimize the risk of harm, naturopathic physicians help facilitate the body’s inherent ability to restore and maintain optimal health. It is the naturopathic physician’s role to identify and remove barriers to good health by helping to create a healing internal and external environment.
Naturopathic physicians work in private practices, hospitals, clinics and community health centers. NDs practice throughout the United States and Canada.

What to expect on your first visit?

First appointment will consist of a full evaluation. The client will fill out paperwork with their information, symptoms, diagnosis (if known), etc. Appointments can be anywhere from 1-2 hours. Follow-up appointments typically last an hour or less. Health concerns will be addressed on the first visit through a plan of care created specifically for each client. Herbs and supplements will either be ordered or sold to the client on the same day or special ordered. In some cases, saliva will be sent out for electrodermal testing.

How do I heal my body?

Healing starts with the bottom and works up. You start with healing the gut first because the majority of the immune system resides in the gut. Not to mention, the gut is also where your nutrients get absorbed. Healing your immune system first is imperative to successful treatment.

If my doctor(s) can’t figure out what’s wrong with me, then how will you?

It’s important to evaluate you as a whole person including how your daily lifestyle contributes to your ailments. Often times lifestyle is overlooked and can delay or even altogether prevent healing. I will listen to you and use my experience and education to help you heal using non-invasive, natural treatments.

Why is a healthy diet so important?

A healthy diet can prevent disease and illness. The Standard American Diet (SAD) is filled with carcinogens and toxic materials that are not made to be in the body. Prevention is key to a healthy life. It’s important to understand what we put into our body and the effects it can have on our body in the future. The body is an expert in healing itself if it is given the proper nutrients.  The World Health Organization states that at least one-third of cancers are preventable. Many researchers believe that 90-95% of cancer can be attributed to our environment and lifestyle.

Since i already take vitamins, I don’t need anything more, right?

WRONG.  Every person is different, which makes medicine more of an art than a science! From the average American diet to lack of sunlight in Michigan, we need more than just a multivitamin for optimal health.

What makes you such a great naturopathic practitioner?

I have both the resources that a great naturopathic practitioner needs and the experience of being a patient.I have overcome cancer three times. Currently, I’m healing daily from Lyme Disease, parasites, and the co-infections that come with it. I have educated myself throughout this journey of so many ups and downs. I received my naturopathic degree to help people that are suffering and confused like I once was. I want to make naturopathic medicine the norm because of the healing I have found through it.

Why is pH level important?

Your pH reveals the level of acidity or alkalinity your body is at. If you’re too acidic (very common), this opens the can of worms for many problems. When your body is too acidic, cancer and chronic illness is more than likely to live and flourish.

Is the visit covered by insurance?

Unfortunately, Michigan doesn’t recognize Naturopathic Doctors like 17 other states already do. For this reason, we cannot accept insurance. We accept cash, check, or credit card payments.
